As I am now finishing up my junior year I can confidently say that I think I have it down what I actually need to bring with me when moving into my dorm. This post is highlighting bedroom essentials that you should purchase if you don’t have to prepare for move-in!
1. Mattress Topper
The dorm beds are NOT comfy on their own, this is a must!
2. Power Strips
When moving into your room you will have no idea where outlets will be placed and sometimes they can be in quite convenient spots. Make sure to bring at least one power strip with you so you are able to charge and plug in everything you need!
3. First Aid Kit
The number of times my roommates or friends have done something where they needed a bandaid can be too many to count. Luckily I was the friend that was always prepared and had a first aid kit with a couple of essentials for those moments of need.
4. Saucer Chair
I got mine for $30 at Walmart and while this not be essential for everyone I absolutely feel like this has been put to good use. The desk chairs your school gives you can be quite uncomfortable. This is perfect as another seating option for when your friends come to hang out or just a more comfortable place for you to sit and even take with you outside on campus.
5. Storage Ottoman
Like the saucer chair, this can be another extra seating option for when you have friends over, but it also doubles as storage. I use mine from Target to store card games, movies, and other various things.
6. Mini Trashcan
I would recommend a mini trashcan for your room over a larger one. In such a small room if you have a larger trashcan you are filling it up more with things that can start to smell and spread in your room. While you definitely need a trashcan I would also recommend throwing away food in your trash room instead of putting it in the can if you don’t plan on taking out the trash right away.
